But sometimes you don’t just wanna swing by the grocery store and pick one up. What fun is that? It’s much more in the Fall spirit to take a trip out to the pumpkin patch to not just buy right from the source but also enjoy some Fall festivities that many patches offer. Here are a few around the Minneapolis area to make your Fall pumpkin picking a memorable one.
Knapton’s Raspberries, Pumpkins & Orchard
Knapton’s is the orchard to visit for monthly delights as the harvest comes in for the season. There are cherries and tomatoes in July, sweet corn in August, and, of course, pumpkins and squash in October. Plenty of acres allow for many chances of picking out just the right pumpkin from the patch, with over 100 varieties in various colors and sizes. Open seven days a week.
Schiltgen Farms LLC
For those seeking to reap the most from the Fall harvest, consider the bounties of Schiltgen Farms. They have it all: pumpkins, sweet corn, squash, gourds, Indian corn, straw, pickles, and firewood. Just about anything you need this season, be it for decoration or eats, is present at this family-friendly farm that’s open Thursday through Sunday.
Sever’s Corn Maze & Farm Market
A Minnesota staple of the Fall season, Sever’s Corn Maze & Farm Market has been a notable location for October fun. As one of the largest corn mazes in Minnesota, it’s certainly worth a stop for the many features of the farm. The petting zoo is also a major draw for families and the nearby haunted house attractions make it adjacent to getting the most out of the season. But, of course, you can’t forget the pumpkins, which there are plenty to choose from. Open Friday through Sunday.
Ziertman’s Pumpkin Farm
Brimming with pumpkins, goats, and tractors, Ziertman’s Pumpkin Farm has quite the country atmosphere for embracing the Fall farm spirit. There’s plenty of fun to be had with picturesque spots for kids to enjoy everything from the picking of the pumpkin to the petting of the goats. Open every weekend this October from 10 AM until dusk.

Even though the Minnetonka Orchard comes branded more for apples, Minnetonka Orchards is not devoid of pumpkins for the fall season. Located right across from the Burl Oaks Golf Club and just off Highway 12, the orchard is the perfect place for picking up apples and pumpkins any recipe or decoration. Find them open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Dehns Pumpkins has quite a bit to boast for fall with its variety of pumpkins and a glorious view of Minnesota farmland. Pumpkins can be selected from their 20-acre field and even purchased wholesale. The corn maze can entertain the kid and wine tasting should please the adults. And if things get a bit chilly, be sure to check out their Rhine Stone Ranch for Alpacas quality yarn rugs, hats, and gloves. Open seven days a week.
