For two 4-day runs on October 16 – 20 and 23 – 27, the Chicago Botanic Garden will come alive in the night with over 1,000 hand-carved pumpkins, each carved by artists from RISE of the Jack-o’-Lanterns. The New York-based company creates mind-blowing carvings for events all across the country and some of these spectacular jack-o’-lanterns will weigh as much as 150 pounds! The festive works of art will line a paved path beginning at the Esplanade, where you’ll find costumed characters, live pumpkin carvings, and the Model Railroad Garden’s spooky locomotives along the route.

Before you head down the path, be sure to grab some warm cider on the Esplanade. Other seasonal treats will be available at the Regenstein Fruit and Vegetable Garden along the way.

You won’t find another event like Night of 1,000 Jack-o’-Lanterns anywhere in Chicago. The event is a great family-friendly way to spend an evening getting into the Halloween spirit. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance, as prices go up after October 15.
