Boystown is an area within the Lakeview neighborhood that was the first-ever recognized gay village in the United States. Its unofficial boundaries are Irving Park Road, Wellington Avenue, Sheffield Avenue, and Broadway. Most of its nightlife and attractions are found on either Halsted Street or Broadway. The term “Boystown” was coined in the 1980s, and it continues to be one of the largest LGBTQ+ communities in the country. Located near Wrigley Field, Boystown bars and restaurants attract a diverse group of people. It is one of the friendliest and most inviting Chicago neighborhoods and is the ideal place to watch the annual Gay Pride Parade.
