There are spectacular shows that we associate with the holiday season: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, White Christmas, A Christmas Carol, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Among those holiday classics is one of the most famous ballets ever performed: The Nutcracker, performed by Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet.
Each year, the Joffrey Ballet stuns Chicagoans and visitors alike with the holiday tale. The show begins on Christmas Eve 1892, just before the opening of the 1893 World’s Fair, Marie and her mother are preparing for a feast. The family gathers to decorate the tree and celebrate together when they are visited from the Great Impresario. His visit sets off a magical, romantic journey of adventure that will delight the entire family.
Beginning on Saturday, November 30th at 2 pm, the show will run throughout the month of December, ending on the 29th. There will not be performances on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. However, the week of Christmas, every performance day of The Joffrey Ballet’s The Nutcracker has both a 2 pm and a 7 pm performance.
This holiday tradition runs for 2 hours and includes a 20-minute intermission. Tickets, as well as a calendar of performances, can be found on the Joffrey website and start at just $35!
