Chicago is already well-established as having one of the best food scenes in America, but could it possibly get even better? We’ve highlighted some of the best new restaurants slated to open in Chicago in 2020, and we can’t wait to see how these establishments impact and improve the community around them.

Chef’s Special Cocktail Bar | 2165 N. Western Avenue
Opening in Bucktown, this new restaurant in Chicago will serve Chinese-American food and amazing drinks. The chefs are inspired by their nostalgia with memories of eating Chinese food on Christmas. The menu will feature items like Mongolian beef, fried rice, and noodles.
Chicago Board Game Cafe | 1965 N. Milwaukee Ave
The creators of Cards Against Humanity are behind the new Chicago Board Game Cafe, slated to open in 2020, a full-service board game cafe where board game teachers are on staff and shared plates are being served. In the meantime, you can visit Bonus Round Cafe, opened in 2018, the very first to cultivate a full-service board game cafe, complete with shareable foods, sandwiches, a full espresso bar, beer & wine, and even cocktails being added soon.
Koval Distillery Tasting Room | 4241 W. Ravenswood Avenue
Koval opened its doors in 2008 as a craft distillery and it has continued to gain popularity over the years. They are opening their tasting room, which is about 10 minutes from the distillery, where customers can enjoy drinks, snacks and an outdoor patio.

Mother’s Ruin | 2943 N. Milwaukee Avenue
With its original location in New York, Mother Ruin is now opening a new restaurant in Chicago. Serving brunch and a late-night menu every day this cocktail bar is getting Chicagoans very excited. Expect boozy milkshakes and a specialty cocktail menu that changes weekly.
Mundano | 1935 N. Lincoln Park West
With a menu that will be focused mostly on American food that is rooted in Latin American cuisine, Mundano is expected to open in the winter of 2020. Dishes such as crispy pig ears and salsa, baguettes with salsa macha and grated pecorino, and fried rock shrimp will be served.
Radius | 640 W. Cermak Road
Tis will be one of the best new restaurants in Chicago due to its entertainment space and full-service restaurant. The chef is Henry Hill who worked at the restaurant that was attached to another music venue in Chicago, Thalia Hall.

RPM Seafood | 317 N. Clark Street
Overlooking the Chicago River, this multi-level restaurant will feature some of the finest fish and seafood in Chicago. RPM Seafood will join the many other popular RPM restaurants in Chicago.
Sushi-San | 233 S. Wacker Drive
Opening in the highly anticipated Catalog project in Willis Tower, this new restaurant in Chicago will be opening its second location in 2020. Serving some of the best sushi in Chicago with binchotan roasted meats and made-to-order hand rolls.
Tortazo | 233 S. Wacker Drive
Created by esteemed chef Rick Bayless, Tortazo is a new fast-casual Mexican restaurant with bold flavors and new culinary experiences. Also part of the Catalog project in the Willis Tower, the Chicago location will be the first of many for this chain.
