5 Can’t-Miss Theme Nights to Enjoy at a Chicago Ballpark in 2023

Take an ice cold beer, a Chicago style hotdog, and combine them with a cool summer night under the lights at Wrigley or Guaranteed Rate Field, and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for a good time. Despite some of the recent performance on the field for both the Cubs and Sox, there’s still plenty of ways to enjoy a night out at a Chicago ballpark. And it doesn’t matter if our teams win or lose.

How does that work? Well, it all starts with some good ‘ol fashion theme nights!

Chicago Ballpark Theme Nights for Summer 2023

Theme Nights at Wrigley

It may be one of the oldest stadiums in the United States, but there’s nothing like a night out at this northern Chicago ballpark: Wrigley Field. Mix in a special theme night with your visit and you really can’t go wrong.

While there’s plenty of theme nights on the calendar at Wrigley Field this season, here are some of our favorites!

Marvel Super Hero Night – July 18

Calling all Chicagoland Marvel fans: the Cubs plan to host a Marvel Super Hero night on Tuesday, July 18 for their game against the Washington Nationals. Throughout the night, baseball fans and Marvel fans alike will be able to take photos with their favorite heroes as well as participate in special activities at the ballpark.

Plus, if you purchase your ticket for the game through the dedicated webpage for the event, then you’ll receive a special-edition Loki bobblehead when you visit! If that wasn’t enough, the bobblehead also has a QR code on it which allows fans to download a free Marvel digital comic. Who doesn’t like freebies?

Star Wars Night – August 2

Speaking of freebies, you won’t want to miss this next theme night – Star Wars Night on Wednesday, August 2. Like, Marvel Super Hero Night, fans who purchase their ticket from the MLB website will receive a Nico Hoerner Jedi bobblehead when they arrive at Wrigley. The Cincinnati Reds face the Cubs this night, and while the game goes on, costumed characters plan to await fans in Gallagher Way for some photos and fun.

And if you’re sick of the typical baseball food on a Chicago ballpark menu, then there will even be some Star Wars inspired food and drinks available for purchase!

WWE Night – August 28

If you haven’t figured it out by now, we’re a huge fan of some special bobbleheads. That’s why the next Chicago Cubs theme night on our list is WWE Night, which takes place on Monday, August 28. Just like the other two, a special Clark Hogan bobblehead to go along with your ticket purchase when you buy off of the event page. There may not be special food or a digital comic to receive as an added bonus, but, on WWE Night, there will be a WWE Superstar in the stands who plans to throw out the first pitch and meet some fans!

White Sox Football Jersey Gate Giveaway – August 12

Don’t worry White Sox fans, we didn’t forget about your southside Chicago ballpark. While this one isn’t exactly a theme night, we can’t pass up the opportunity to cover it.

On Saturday, August 12 when the White Sox face the Brewers, fans 21 years and up will be in for a special treat. Well, as long as they’re one of the first 10,000 people to enter the gates. For this day, the White Sox plan to giveaway a one-of-a-kind White Sox football jersey to it’s first 10,000 visitors 21+. At that point in the year, football season will be right around the corner. You can’t beat that timing! Don’t forget to set your alarm clocks and get there early.

Dylan Cease Bobblehead Night – August 26

Given all the Chicago Cubs bobbleheads we talked about earlier, it’d be unfair for us to wrap this up without highlighting one for the White Sox.

On Saturday, August 26, the White Sox plan to do another giveaway to the first 15,000 fans over 21 years old with their Dylan Cease bobblehead! The Sox face the Athletics on this night, and while there’s no way to guess how the team will be playing by that point, we can guarantee that most fans will walk home with a free bobblehead. And who knows… maybe Mr. Dylan Cease himself will take the mound for that one.
