8 Best Restaurants for a Spectacular Night Out in East Austin

The East Side has a spread of some of the most unique restaurants in Austin, with international cuisine galore. It’s hard to choose what could possibly be the best, but we’ve given it our all — and done a lot of eating — so that we can share our take on the best restaurants in East Austin!

Oseyo

1628 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702

Only the cutest Korean restaurant ever, Oseyo has amazing food for delicious dinners and Sunday brunches. The recipes are all inspired by mom’s homemade cooking, featuring traditional Korean dishes, as well as those with an American twist. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out their craft cocktails!

Fukumoto

514 Medina St, Austin, TX 78702

Heading over to Japan, Fukumoto is an izakaya, meaning a spot to relax, have some food and drinks, and stay awhile. They nailed it. Their specialities are in yakitori, Japanese comfort foods, and sushi imported straight from Japan.

Domo Alley-Gato

1600 E 6th St B, Austin, TX 78702

Right next to Ramen Tatsu-ya, you’ll find Domo Alley-Gato. The giant and adorable lucky cat outside will be your clue. They specialize in some highly creative cocktails and Japanese curry. It’s perfect for late night munchies and chill vibes.

Sunny’s Backyard

3526 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702

Sunny’s Backyard is brand new, like opened-two-weeks-ago brand new. They’ve taken pub foods and made them 100% vegan, and absolutely delicious. They’ve got it all: hot dogs, burgers, cheese sticks, the list goes on. Vegan or not, Sunny’s is a must.

Buenos Aires Cafe

1201 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702

Hopping back on our food plane, Buenos Aires Cafe will take you right to Argentina. They have an extensive menu of traditional Argentinian dishes made from responsibly sourced ingredients. And for us wine lovers,  a wine list dedicated to Malbec.

Tamale House

1707 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702

Tamale House has been bringing tamales to the people of Austin since 1958! The tamales are massive, and the menu doesn’t stop there. They’ve got tacos, chalupas, enchiladas, and more. Honestly, you can come here for literally any meal of the day.

Boteco

1209 E 6th St Suite A, Austin, TX 78702

Boteco has arguably the best Brazilian street food in Austin. Like many other restaurants in East Austin, they are a food truck with a cute little patio out front. Their menu is relatively small, but everything they make is absolutely, mouth-wateringly perfect.

Shangri-La

1016 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702

Every Austinite basically ever will tell you, you have to go to Shangri-La! It’s one of those staple locations we all know and love. They encourage relaxing all day on their patio with your dog and, of course, enjoying some of the best Creole and Cajun food around from Baton Creole.
