About Yassa
One of the few places to get authentic West African food in Chicago, Yassa is a Senegalese restaurant in Bronzeville. Opened in 2004 by the Gueye family, Yassa has a one-of-a-kind menu. Entrees include chicken, lamb, fish, and shrimp, and it offers side dishes like jollof rice, couscous, plantains, and fufu. Yassa also serves several homemade stews and African beverages like bouye (baobab fruit) and gingembre (fresh ginger root). Located at 35th Street and King Drive, Yassa has been described as tasting similar to Asian and Jamaican cuisine. For a culturally rich exotic food experience, look no further than Yassa.
