North By Northwest Highway Music Fest Will Rock Your Socks Off

So you’ve probably heard of SXSW, or South by Southwest, a large set of conferences and music fests held annually in Austin, TX.

Well this year, Chicago is hosting North by Northwest, though it actually holds no relation to the mega-conference in Texas. North by Northwest is a three-day music fest that’s actually named after Northwest Highway, one of the main roads through Edison Park (where the fest is held). A few reasons to attend:

Bands, Bands, Bands.
There will be over 45 bands rocking out at the fest, with the headliners Eliminator (a ZZ Top tribute band), Don’t Speak (a No-Doubt tribute band), and Breaking Tradition (not a tribute band). Genres for other acts include pop, rock, blues, country, and other tribute bands.

Multiple Venues
I always enjoy when a fest is held at multiple locations for the simple reason that I can attend multiple days without feeling like I’m just experiencing the same thing again and again. North by Northwest is no different. The shows are held throughout four venues in Edison Park, and it’s sponsored by Blue Moon, so there will be beer!

It’s Cheap!
All of the venues are within walking distance of each other, and the price is $3 at each door as a small entrance fee. You’re also able to buy a whole-day pass for $10, and even a three-day pass for $25 for those who want to get the full experience. You can buy tickets here.
