Evanston is a hoppin’ town, so we’re not entirely surprised to find this unique old-world-style tavern smack dab in the middle of suburbia. Home to more than a few gems, Evanston seems to me like a writer’s town if there ever was one. And discovering the Whiskey Thief Tavern only reinforces that belief.
In a few words, this place is classy AF. Not only is it so casually designed that you sort of feel right at home as soon as you walk in, but it also encourages the slow sipping of fine-ass whiskeys while you slowly ascend into drunken nobility. By the end of your third glass, you’re sure to be holding your pinky high and already growing a hipster ‘stache. The walls are host to mirrors of all shapes, sizes, and frames, leaving you to further contemplate your posture and poise in the midst of this pourhouse.
The menu is delicious, the whiskeys are smooth, and the atmosphere is warm. There’s no reason not to visit.
