About Uptown Theatre
The Uptown Theatre first opened in 1925 and was one of the largest theatres around, with over 4,300 seats and 46,000 square feet. As the film started to become the next big thing in entertainment, the Uptown hosted film screenings as well as stage productions and concerts. While the closed theatre is currently not offering rentals or tours, as its fate is largely unknown, people travel to Uptown to snap photos of the beautiful Chicago landmark that once changed the neighborhood. Now other popular theatres are used in the area, including the Riviera and the Aragon Ballroom.
