The 6 Best Chicago Restaurants Featured on Triple-D

There are two types of people in this world: people who watch Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives while half asleep on Sunday afternoons, and straight up liars.

So, all things considered, I think it’s pretty safe to say that this article needs very little introduction.

This now famous Korean fast-food joint in Chicago first graced the Food Network small screen in March of 2012, and Chef Will Song has never looked back. Perhaps best known for the Umami Burger – which Guy understandably referred to as “righteous” – bopNgrill has made a name for itself by cooking up drool-worthy American classics with an Asian twist.

What You Should Get: The Umami Burger (duh) – umami-packed truffled mushroom duxelle, togarashi mayo, bacon, smoked gouda.

If you’ve STILL never been to 90 Miles Cuban Cafe, then you need to hop off of your computer and get your ass to any of its three, delicious locations right this second. This Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives location features the best pork in the city – plus a few knock-out drinks to go with it – you’re gonna wanna try this.

Vito & Nick’s

8433 S Pulaski Rd, Ashburn

Vito & Nick’s is a true n blue Chicago icon. A south side mainstay with, what may possibly be, the best tavern style thin crust in the whole city, it’s no wonder the Triple-D team fell in love with this spot.

Multiple Locations

Though, no – DMK Burger Bar hasn’t been in Chicago nearly as long as some of the other restaurants on Guy’s list, but don’t let that stop you. Since first opening their doors in 2009, This Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives location in Illinois has quickly become one of the premier burger joints anywhere in the Chicagoland area and, boy, do they deserve the praise.

What You Should Get: The 2×4 Hot Cheese – cheddar & Jack, 4 hot peppers, roasted poblano, onion and garlic aioli.

Throw everything you thought you knew about Mexican food right out the window ’cause Cemitas Puebla is, as Guy would probably call it, the real deal. Servin’ up Mexican sandwiches unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, this taqueria-turned-cafe is your one-stop shop for Puebla food in the city.

Nana

3267 S Halsted, Bridgeport

Family owned and operated, this organic restaurant on the city’s south side is definitely not your average Triple-D spot. With not a massiv burger in sight, the true allure of Nana isn’t the pur insanity of it’s food, but the care with which it is made. Oh, and the Po’Boys – those are pretty damn impressive too.
