About The Berghoff
With it’s iconic marquee lighting up the heart of downtown, The Berghoff is without a doubt one of the most recognizable restaurants in the city. A Chicago mainstay since it’s opening in 1898, The Berghoff serves up traditional German dishes with a dash of American flare. The restaurant’s founder, Herman Berghoff, began his career brewing Berghoff beer for the World’s Fair, securing the Berghoff bar the first liquor license in the city of Chicago. The rest, as they say, is history.
