About Steppenwolf Theatre
The Steppenwolf Theatre is a venue located near Halsted Street and North Avenue. Originally the idea of Gary Sinise, Terry Kinney, and Jeff Perry, The Steppenwolf Theatre Company started in Highland Park and moved to its current location in 1991. Steppenwolf now consists of an ensemble of over 50 members and includes some of the country’s finest actors, directors, and playwrights. The theatre has put on hundreds of unique productions and their Halsted location includes multiple performance spaces. Steppenwolf has received numerous accolades including 12 Tony Awards and The National Medal of Arts. It draws nearly 200,000 attendees a year and hosts a wide variety of plays.
