About Some Like It Black
Originally opened in 1999 in South Loop, Some Like It Black is a creative arts bar now located in Bronzeville at 43rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. It welcomes all types of artists and guests and hosts live music, storytelling, poetry readings, and more. The menu includes tacos, sandwiches, and drink specials inspired by black musical icons like Say It Loud (James Brown), Mississippi Goddamn (Nina Simone), and The Belafonte. The interior includes a full-service smoothie bar, and there’s a weather-permitting outdoor seating area in front.
