Lake Michigan is Getting a Floating Waterpark This Summer

Summer on the lake is about to get even more exciting, especially for families. A large, floating waterpark has been proposed for a portion of Lake Michigan in Whiting, IN, just 30 minutes outside of Chicago.

The inflatable waterpark, created by German company Wibit Sports, will be held at Whihala Beach. The all-ages attraction features tunnels, trampolines, water slides, and other water play activities that are tethered to the floor of the lake, and can be reorganized to create a custom waterpark experience from beach to beach. The company also offers various parts that represent different challenge levels, from tot-friendly flotations to tricky obstacle courses.

Founded in 1996, Wibit Sports inflatable waterparks have been used in many other locations across the world, including England, Hungary, China, and the Bahamas.

This attraction is one of many that people in the not-too-far town of Whiting hope to add to increase tourism in the area. The floating waterpark is slated to open to the public sometime in June and operate until August. Day passes are estimated to cost between $10 – $12.
