The holiday season is a wonderful time to spend with family by doing fun activities that people of all ages can enjoy! Visiting one of the many museums in Chicago is a great way to have fun and stay warm indoors, and many museums are having holiday celebrations before the year is over!
Museum of Science + Industry
Exhibit: Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light
The Museum of Science + Industry is celebrating the holidays with an exhibit consisting of a four-story, floor-to-dome Grand Tree, surrounded by over 50 other trees and other decorations made to represent different cultures. Visit on the weekend, and enjoy live holiday performances, LEGO activities and pictures with Santa!

35th Annual Holiday Treasure Hunt and Tea Party
December 11, 10:45am – 4pm
A family favorite! Visit five stops within the museum galleries while learning stories about works of art and filling your activity book with awesome stamps and stickers! There will also be a tea party with Artie the Lion in the historic Stock Exchange Trading Room. There are VIP tickets available that will give you exclusive seating, access to a deluxe hot chocolate bar and a special goodie bag for each child.

Celebrate the holidays every Saturday in December at The Field Museum with buffet breakfasts, holiday crafts, and pictures with Santa and SUE!

Art and Science Spotlight- Winter in the Wild
Saturday, December 17, 11am – 2pm
The cold is coming! Humans can bundle up in their winter jackets, but what about our plant and animals friends? How do they prepare for the winter? Local storyteller, Linda Gorham will tell you during the Art and Science Spotlight at the Museum. There will also be art activities in the PlayLab that your children can enjoy.
Shedd Aquarium
The Shedd Aquarium is offering Holiday Breakfasts throughout the month of December! The breakfast consists of breakfast and hot chocolate, a screening of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Polar Express, and the chance to meet Santa! After breakfast, guests can explore the Polar Play Zone, the Shedd’s children’s exhibit and end the day with the aquatic show, One World.
