For it’s 30th anniversary, the Willie Nelson headed music fest, Farm Aid, will be heading to Chicago’s brilliantly revamped Northerly Island. The show will take place at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion on September 19th.
The benefit concert, which has featured headliners John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, and Willie Nelson every single year since 2001, is expected to draw crowds in the tens of thousands.
“We organized the first Farm Aid concert in Illinois in 1985 to respond to the people suffering during the Farm Crisis. Thirty years later, in Chicago, we’ll bring together so many of the people — farmers, eaters, advocates and activists — who have made the progress of the Good Food Movement possible,” President and Founder Willie Nelson said. “At Farm Aid 30, we’ll celebrate the impact we’ve had and rally our supporters for the work ahead.”
Five other acts have been announced for this year’s event: Kacey Musgraves, Jack Johnson, Imagine Dragons, Mavis Stables, and Old Crow Medicine Show.
The show doesn’t take place until September 19th, but tickets will go on sale August 3rd at 10am on LiveNation.com. Prices will range from $49.50 to $189.50. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local farmers. Since Farm Aid’s beginnings 30 years ago, they’ve raised over $48 million towards the cause.
