With countless massive celebrations across the city – Chicago has cracked Kayak.com’s Top 10 New Year’s Eve Destination list.
Propelled by a 34% increase in flight searches vs. the previous New Year’s Eve, Chicago is ranked as the 9th highest trending city in the world for NYE.
The easy answer for the upsurge? Chi-Town Rising, Chicago’s first ever massive outdoor New Year’s Eve event. Attendance for the celebration is projected to reach over 100,000 – with over 1 million viewers watching from home. Music headliners include the American Authors and legendary rock band Chicago. Dubai has taken the cake, with a 70% travel increase over last year’s numbers. The city barely beat out Cartegena, which saw a 68% uptick. Numbers four through ten all finished neck and neck, with less than 10% separating the top from the bottom.
Interestingly enough, the only other U.S. city outside of Chicago is Atlanta, which saw a 38% rise.
