About The Chicago History Museum
Celebrate the city’s heritage at the Chicago History Museum. CHM’s mission is to share Chicago’s stories – both new and old – and preserve any and all information about the history of our city. Founded in 1856, most of the original Chicago History Museum was lost to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, with the current building opening in 1988. Through educational programing, entertaining events and community activities, the CHM aims to preserve everything uniquely Chicago and is a sure-fire way to get in touch with the city itself.
