New Restaurant to Take Over Blackfinn in River North

After three years of operation, the sports bar will be replaced

It was recently announced that Blackfinn Ameripub, a popular sports bar chain, will close its corner location at 330 North Clark Street in River North.

In its place will be a new Mexican restaurant concept called Barrio, led by Chicago-based hospitality development firm Dineamic Group. They are also behind other successful Chicago restaurants such as Bar Siena, Siena Tavern, Bull & Bear, and Public House, most of which are also located in River North.

The massive 6,000 square-foot space can accommodate large crowds at any time of day, and its central location attracts plenty of foot traffic. Architect Ryan Nestor, who also led the design for Bar Siena and River North’s Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar, plans to divide the space into four areas with distinct purposes: a main dining room, a smaller private dining room, an oval-shaped bar that will serve as the focal point, and a deck with individual party rooms. The restaurant’s interior designer, Katherine Ingrassia, is also behind Bar Siena and Union Sushi, as well as the popular rooftop spot Zed451.

Barrio’s menu will mostly featured shared plates inspired by Mexican street food and Latin takes on classic American gastropub fare. Overall, the menu and ambiance will fit right in with the vibe of River North.

The hours of operation will be 11:30am – 2am Monday through Friday, 10am – 3am on Saturday, and 10am – 2am on Sunday. Stay tuned for more coverage of Barrio and other upcoming businesses in River North.
