Tired of walking down the long halls of the Art Institute or navigating the Museum of Contemporary Art? Try visiting the smaller settings of the Arts District‘s lofts, studios and galleries. Chicago has plenty of art museums, but if you head over to the Arts District you’ll find a whole new art experience. The Arts District is home to a variety of visual artists who generously open their doors to the public from 6pm – 10pm during their 2nd Fridays event. Just make your way over to the Information Center at 2003 South Halsted Street on the 2nd Friday of the month to pick up a map and get started.

There’s something for everyone in the Arts District, so don’t be shy about bringing a group with a variety of tastes. For the more traditional art enthusiasts there will be paintings, photographs and sculptures. But those looking to see something outside the box won’t leave disappointed. From avant grade fashion to installation and video art, the Arts District hosts plenty of creative thinkers looking to make art in new ways.

Want to see local artists? You’ll find them in the Arts District. International talent? The Arts District has that too! At 2nd Fridays you’ll see artists from right here in Chicago, across the U.S. and even from around the world. All of them are on hand to discuss their work with visitors as well, so take the opportunity to pick the brain of the person who made that piece you can’t stop staring at. Top the night off with a stroll past historic architecture and award winning gardens and you’ll find yourself counting down the days to the next 2nd Friday.
