Whether you personally like Andy Warhol or not, you cannot deny that the guy is the classic icon of advertising, consumer culture, and mass media. And since Chicagoland has such a vibrant pop art community, Warhol, of course, is a highly-celebrated artistic figure. Meanwhile, for us who work in the media industry, a look at Warhol’s art always opens us to new realizations of how our audience interacts and engages with our content.

No matter where your interest in Warhol stems, right now, you have the unique opportunity to explore over 200+ original artwork and photographs by Warhol at the multi-faceted WARHOL Exhibition at the College of DuPage. However, over 20 towns across DuPage county are also participating in the celebration of this pop art icon with other Warhol-inspired exhibitions, such as Marvelosity at Elmhurst Art Museum, public pop art, and events including fashion shows, brewery releases, block parties, etc.

On Friday, June 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild will host the opening reception for Inspired by Warhol. Pieces juried into the exhibitions are either created in the style of or inspired by the pop culture icon. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted on the red carpet by EAG’s Polaroid photographers waiting by giant soup cans to snap a keepsake photo before entering a night full of photo ops, disco music, light snacks, and beverages.

On Saturday, June 24, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., attend the Fifteen Minutes of Fame Fashion Show at the Lombard Historical Society and explore fashion from the 60s, 70s, and 80s while mingling with professional models just like at “The Factory.” Enjoy delicious appetizers provided by Righteous Kitchen and themed beverages, and meet an Andy Warhol look-alike with his entourage while vibing to music from the decades during this one-of-a-kind event!

Afterward, that same day at 6 p.m., head to the Lakeside Pavilion and in “Central Park” outdoor area of the WARHOL Exhibition at the College of DuPage for a  Pride Anthems Concert that will take you on a timeless journey from disco to the present day with essential songs from Donna Summer and Queen to George Michael, Erasure, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and much more.
