Who doesn’t love Amazon? Type anything you’re interested in buying in the search bar and it’ll appear right before your eyes. Same goes with Amazon Books. If you’re familiar with Amazon Books online, you know they have a huge selection of novels in every category. The only annoying part about it is paying for shipping and waiting not-so-patiently for the book to appear at your doorstep. First world problems? Maybe. Now, if you reside or frequently visit downtown, you can pick up that book and start reading it as soon as possible.

Amazon Books is opening a location in Lakeview sometime next year and it will be located at 3443 North Southport Avenue, which formerly housed Mystic Celt. This will be one out of five confirmed locations for Amazon Books, with the first being in Seattle, Washington which opened near the Amazon headquarters last year, and others opening in San Diego, Portland, and New York City.

The Lakeview location will stock the store with books and categorize them based on customer reviews and ratings from their online store.  You’ll be sure to see some of their best sellers as soon as you walk in the door.

We’re curious to see how it will turn out, seeing as there are many other book stores located in Chicago that most likely sell the same books and have loyal customers. Even though Amazon put a lot of bookstores out of business, we know there are still a few Barnes & Noble stores located in Chicago, which will arguably be their largest brick-and-mortar competitor.
