Pro Soccer Teams of the Western Hemisphere Take to Chicago for Copa America
As Chicago grows to be a major player in hosting world sporting events, the Copa America Centenario USA 2016 is now another to check off the list.
This year’s Copa America is the first to be held outside of South America. Soldier Field was a chosen venue for a handful of the matches, alongside stadiums in Seattle, Philadelphia, and Houston to name a few. After 3 weeks of matches from the world’s top soccer teams, it’s now time for the quarterfinals, taking place this Thursday, June 16. The eight remaining teams scheduled to compete are Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile and the USA.

Chicago will have even more eyes on it in due time, as the city is hosting a semifinals match next Wednesday, June 22. Teams will meet for the final showdown at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Sunday, June 26.
