Look alive, Chicago.
For those of you who vowed to get in better shape this year, we have some good news: 73 Chicago Park District fitness centers will be offering a free week of membership for the month of January. Hundreds of classes and lap swim times will be made free as well.
This promotion extends from January 2-10 and includes locations around the city. Basically, if you live in Chicago, there’s a location near you.
Chicago Park District fitness centers provide an excellent, low-cost alternative to private gyms. They combine a great balance of quality and value, with 3-month memberships that range anywhere from $30-$60 total. Their Gold Cards allow you to access any of their 73 locations, and if you sign up during the free week, you’ll receive a free glow in the dark water bottle, so that’s cool.
You can find a complete list of all locations and their descriptions on the Chicago Park District’s official page.
Fitness Classes
Even though they’re free, all classes are led by nationally certified and professional instructors. Sessions include kickboxing, fitness boot camp, nutrition, Pilates, small group personal training, yoga, and cardio conditioning. You can sign up or view class times, openings, and locations here.
Lap Swim
Lap swim sessions are available at many locations through the city, though hours vary. You can find the location and times that best suit you here.
