Who’s hungry for more?
La Liste, an organization started by the French Foreign Minister, has finally put together their list of the world’s top restaurants. The rankings take into account 1000 eateries from countries around the globe. The Windy City holds seven of those spots, which isn’t an easy feat considering the vast amount of cities and factors involved.
According to La Liste’s site: “[The list] leverages restaurant scores and other metadata from 200-plus leading gastronomic guidebooks and websites, making it the first and the only restaurant ranking based on transparent, objective and verifiable criteria.”
Here are the Top 7 Chicago Restaurants according to the rankings:
333) Grace, in the Near West Side
343) Alinea, in Lincoln Park
373) 42 Grams, in Uptown
601) Sixteen, in the Near North Side
826) Everest, in the Loop
843) Tru, in the Near North Side
987) Blackbird, in the Near West Side
That all sounds great, though we’re slightly surprised Alinea wasn’t ranked higher, as it was the previous number one from Elite Traveler four years in a row. Still, La Liste is supported by France’s tourism board, and from the sound of their rankings, we’re sure they’ve done their due diligence.
So which restaurant finished with the top spot? Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Switzerland. We’re guessing it’s a nice place.
The complete list will be available on laliste.com beginning on December 17th. Needless to say, we’re interested in seeing how Chicago restaurants stacked up against other major metro areas from around the U.S. and world as a whole. Stay tuned.
