Every third Friday of the month, Bridgeport’s esteemed local galleries team up, staying open late and opening their doors to the public for free admission & special events.
Among those galleries is the Zhou B Art Center, home of storied artists DaHuang and ShanZou Zhou. If you haven’t heard of them, the two brothers ventured to America from China in 1986, and since it was close to Chinatown, they chose Bridgeport as their site of operations. Settling on a dark, gloomy warehouse, the Zhou Brothers gradually transformed the space into a blossoming art community, and they haven’t looked back since.

The Zhou B Art Center will be hosting a very special “Third Friday” event this time around, as Mayor Emmanuel will be on site to officially dedicate the stretch of road near the building as “Zhou Brothers Way” at 5 pm on Friday. A performance by Bryant Young Professionals and Chicago’s very own Lili K will follow.
Nowadays, the Zhou Brothers are world-renowned artists, with works shown in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, London, Hong Kong, Berlin, and Budapest. The two are a highlight reel in themselves, but the true show at the Zhou B Art Center begins with the collections of the other resident artists within its doors.
Among them is Martin Bernstein, the first resident artist to move into the building. Bernstein’s entire studio is emits a positive energy, which is evident right as you step foot on the third floor and see the magical, woodland paradise extending beyond his door.
