Why do we love Lincoln Park Zoo Fall Fest?
Easy.
Outside of completely free admission (like you can find at the zoo every single day of the week) it’s basically a paradise for children and families. The fall fest has been going on since October 2nd, and since then we’ve seen plenty of pumpkins, bales of hay, and smiles among the brisk fall weather.
Here’s what’s in store, straight from Lincoln Park Zoo’s official description:
- Corn maze and hay mountain
- Pumpkin patch
- Hay ride
- Ferris wheel
- Pumpkin bounce house
- Fun slide
- Pumpkin carvers
- Strolling entertainers
- Sing-alongs for kids
- Animal chats and learning stations
- Edible garden
Now we know we said it’s free, and we didn’t lie to you, admission is completely free…but pumpkins and activities do cost money. It’s nothing crazy though, as you can fetch an activity ticket for just $3. Plus, the zoo relies on funding from its special events to keep itself open year-round. When you think about the animals they have to tend to and the overall fantastic experience they offer on a daily basis, $3 is chump change.
And seriously, where else in the city will you find a pumpkin patch?
With Navy Pier’s Ferris wheel being taken down, the zoo currently holds the only functional wheel in the city. And while we’re not completely sure on this one, they probably have the only corn maze, hay mountain, and pumpkin bounce house in the city, too.
