Let us guess… you were an athletic kid, always running around and playing with a ball. And now that you’re grown, you’re really starting to miss the organized chaos and the space to roam that sports clubs gave you as a kid. Lucky for you, the fun never has to end. There are plenty of Austin-based social sports clubs for adults; you just have to know where to look.
Austin Sports & Social Club
Here’s a great place to start. Austin Sports & Social Club has so many indoor and outdoor leagues available. You can stick to the sport of your youth, or choose to learn a whole new skill with clubs like bowling, dodgeball, soccer, tennis, wiffleball, and more. There’s also personal and group training sessions for those who really want to whip themselves into shape. And, best of all, there’s a social aspect: join fellow members in mingling at awesome events throughout the year.
Austin Runners Club
She’s a runna, she’s a track star… and now she runs to connect with the best version of herself at the Austin Runners Club. Join a team of runners just as motivated and committed as you are to helping each other get up and on the go. Group runs help challenge your pace as you travel scenic routes, and there’s always free training with a membership.
Austin Bouldering Project
This place is pretty straightforward: you’re here to climb. There are so many walls to scale by bouldering, which means climbing without ropes or harnesses, with varying levels of difficulty so you can work your way up. The floor is padded and the walls only reach 13-17 feet high, so falling isn’t as bad as you think. Stay in shape in the upstairs gym and join yoga classes to cool down. Training is always available for all members.
Sportskind Austin
Another of the all-inclusive sports clubs in Austin is Sportskind Austin, where leagues are offered in basketball, soccer, sand volleyball, softball, kickball, flag football, and even cornhole. Teams meet weekly, but there are also several one-day tournaments every month, so you can always jump right in.
Social Cycling Austin
If you’re more of a biker than a runner, Social Cycling is for you. There are plenty of themed, casual night rides every week, where bikers make fun stops at free or discounted activities along the route, like swimming, yoga, or grabbing a beer.
NAKID Social Sports
NAKID stands for Neighborhood Adults Kickin’ It Downtown, not necessarily nudity… but this adults-only league forms teams around cornhole, kickball, or sand volleyball, and then kicks it at a sponsoring bar after every game. Tap into your inner child, and then tap into your inner college student.
