This is the best time of the year for artists to get new shows, talk about new partnerships, and find new resources. And, not to mention that the pandemic has made it much harder for artists. That’s why we decided to round up 10 high-quality Phoenix artist opportunities that will soon be closing.

The City of Phoenix is calling artists to turn bus shelters into art pieces. This is a perfect example of how art and infrastructure can go hand-in-hand and make our life much better. This call is only open for 2D artists, but if you believe your final piece can be presented in a 2D form, such as a digital print, then feel free to apply also.

The VAI program aims to provide financial support for artistic initiatives that will help the state’s tourism recover from the economic damage brought by Covid-19. It also seeks to create new, sustainable tourist attractions that can bring long-lasting influences. Leave a visual mark in the valley and be forever remembered… Just joking. However, this is indeed one of the highest-value opportunities valley artists will find throughout the rest of 2021.

The City of Goodyear is calling for artists for their traffic signal cabinet project. The goal is to make the functional infrastructure a part of Goodyear’s cultural landscape as well. The artwork can be directly painted to the cabinets or printed on a vinyl wrap around the cabinet. If you think you’ll be a good fit, make sure you get an application in before the end of August!

Guess what? The Phoenix Festival of the Arts is back! If you’re an artist or muralist, be sure to put your application in before the end of August. However, creative organizations and NPOs have a bit more time to get their materials together. The Phoenix Festival of the Arts gets some heavy traffic. And being one of the first major fairs coming back after the city opens up, artists can expect even more excitement than usual.

Local artists in Phoenix can submit vendor applications for WVAC’s Holiday Market this year! This holiday market is a valley favorite. Types of vendors accepted include small visual works, sculpture, prints, décor, greeting cards, jewelry and accessories, kitchenware, specialty candles, and soap.

Curated by the Scottsdale Public Art, FIRST is a juried group exhibition featuring Native American artists residing in Phoenix and other areas in Arizona. Submit and showcase your unique interpretation of the Native American culture. This show is co-curated with the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
