Dallas-based popsicle stand Picolé will open a permanent location at The Domain Northside in Austin this weekend, which is just in time for you to treat your Valentine’s Day date to a delicious, boozy frozen treat.
Picolé will serve up Brazilian-style popsicles—you know, the kind with fresh fruit frozen in the center—on a menu of over 30 mouthwatering flavors, including some with an alcohol percentage. Boozy popsicles will be infused with distilled liquor from local Austin brands, and can definitely get you tipsy. Their Mango Margarita popsicle, for instance, features quite a bit of tequila to achieve an 8% ABV. We’ll take two to start, please.
These might look a lot like Mexican paletas to you, but Picolé popsicles puts a spin on the traditional recipe by using less water and more creamy fillings. Think strawberry cheesecake, banana nutella, even Ferrero Rocher. Among their fruitier flavors is a mindblowing dragon fruit lemonade, red prickly pear, and cucumber lime. And, in addition to Mango, their boozy popsicles also include flavors like Tequila Sunrise, Rumchata, and Strawberry Daiquiri. Glam up any popsicle with a special dip, coating, or toppings—sweet and spicy!
Picolé doesn’t stop there on its quest for innovation. Their smoothies are knockouts, too, with tasty, energy-boosting options like Summertime Glow (apple juice, banana strawberry) and Mean Green (apple cider, coconut water, kale, pineapple, mango). Add in a protein boost or hemp seeds for an extra kick.
The Lara siblings co-founded Picolé in Dallas, inspired by their late father who ran a popsicle stand in Mexico, and will now split their responsibilities between both cities. Melissa and Jorge Lara will take on the Austin franchise while Adrian Lara maintains the Dallas locations.
Picolé will open at 11501 Rock Rose Avenue, Suite 156, on Saturday, February 13th for in-store and curbside pick-up and delivery of boozy popsicles in Austin through easy online ordering.
