8 Best Cafés & Bistros to Visit in Austin, Texas

Austin’s café scene is characterized by quirky coffee shops, complete with great food, comfy seating, good vibes, and – more often than not – beer and wine. These are the places every Austinite heads to catch up on work or study, hang out with friends, and everything in between. Here are our favorites from all around Austin!

Mozart’s

3825 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, TX 78703

An Austin original and right on Lake Austin – Mozart’s is awesome. There’s a huge patio overlooking the lake, often live music, plenty of baked goodies, and coffee beans roasted on site. In winter they also have a really fun Christmass-y light show!

Epoch

221 W N Loop Blvd, Austin, TX 78751

Epoch is open 24/7, and good thing too because you’ll find students huddled together over books and drinking coffee all night long. But it’s not just a staple for students – plenty of Austin natives frequent the café for great coffee and a great atmosphere – you may even run into a group playing 4-way chess!

Wright Bros. Brew & Brew

500 San Marcos St #105, Austin, TX 78702

Wright Bros. is a café and bar in the heart of the East Side. Their coffee comes from all over – changing almost daily – and their non-coffee drinks are unlike anything we’ve had. They also boast 39 beers on tap, so you can easily go from morning to afternoon.

101 by Tea Haus

6929 Airport Blvd #132, Austin, TX 78752

If you’re like any of the rest of us, you’ve fallen totally in love with bubble tea. 101 by Tea Haus is one of the best places in Austin for your bubble tea fix – and some excellent Asian food on the side.

Sa-Tén

4917 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78751

Sa-Tén is a fantastic little café offering coffee, traditional matcha tea, and Japanese comfort foods. Not to mention their Airport Blvd location has an area fitted with tatami mats and cushions – enjoy lounging around!

Houndstooth

11501 Rock Rose Ave Ste 118, Austin, TX 78758

Houndstooth is often frequented by young professionals for meetings, but you’ll also find plenty of people relaxing during their shopping, or just stopping by to catch up with friends. Their coffee is of course fantastic, but they’re also one of the only cafés to have a full bar!

Batch

3220 Manor Rd, Austin, TX 78723

Coffee, craft beer, kolaches – Batch has it all. Their patio space is gorgeous, with plenty of shade and room for larger groups. It’s sort of like a German beer garden met an Austin coffee shop and created one of the nicest places to chill.

Le Café Crêpe

200 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78701

We couldn’t talk about cafés without mentioning crêpes! Café Crêpe was opened by French natives who wanted to bring the flavors of France to Austin. Everything here is incredible, definitely a must-visit.
