The long-awaited return of South by Southwest Music Festival, otherwise known as SXSW, is finally just around the corner. After a 2020 cancelation and a virtual iteration in 2021—all thanks to Miss Rona—fans can register to attend SXSW when the music festival takes over Austin again on March 14-20, 2022. The third round of the SXSW music festival lineup is here, bringing the list to over 300 showcasing artists.
SXSW has so far announced three waves of showcasing artists who will perform on local stages throughout downtown. The lineup ranges from world-renowned performers to Lone Star State dwellers to emerging artists, yet to be discovered at a local Austin venue during SXSW. The SXSW music festival lineup of 300+ showcasing artists is just one of several revelations, to be announced over the next few months and leading up to the festival’s top headliners.
Whether you remember Austin before all those buildings went up or you just moved here because the price was right, you should have a general understanding of what SXSW brings to the city. Uniting creative artists, industry professionals, and people who appreciate the music, SXSW encourages connection, networking, and celebration at the 2022 conference and music, film, and comedy festivals, spanning March 11-20, 2022. In the Live Music Capital of the World, artists on the rise take flight at SXSW.
From the SXSW website, “Leading the charge is rising London R&B vocalist Poppy Ajudha, trash punks turned Gucci models Surfbort, and Maxo Kream, fresh off the release of his new album Weight Of The World, who will make his return to SXSW.”
This year brings us 70+ emerging Austin musicians, including: alexalone, Atlas Maior, A Giant Dog, Adam Ostrar, Alex Dupree, Angélica Rahe, BabiBoi, Band of Bastards, Being Dead, Big Bill, Blushing, Buffalo Hunt, Buffalo Nichols, Caleb De Casper, Chief Cleopatra, Curse Mackey, Go Fever, Graham Reynolds, Graham Reynolds & The Golden Arm Trio, Greyhounds, J Soulja, Jackie Venson, James McMurtry, Katy Kirby, Kevin Galloway, Little Mazarn, Mobley, Nuevo, PASTEL GHOST, Rett Smith, Ringo Deathstarr, Sir Woman, Star Parks, Sun June, The Deer, Tiarra Girls, Why Bonnie
