The rainy season in Austin is almost unheard of, and while it never lasts too long, it still manages to catch everyone off-guard… and wishing for a break from the humidity. But even though things may be a little dreary out, there’s no shortage of fun places to go and activities to do — besides, after a good rain is the perfect time to hit up the Greenbelt. Before we all go back to chilling outdoors, we have created a list of fun things to do in Austin on a rainy day.
Sa-Tén
916 Springdale Road Bldg 3, #101, Austin, TX 78702
This particular Sa-Tén location is fantastic to hit up when it’s raining! It’s got garage doors and massive windows, making it the coziest place ever to enjoy a warm drink and some amazing food while it pours outside. There’s also a TON of art galleries in the same building complex where you can check out local art.
Texas Union Underground
Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, 2247 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78712
Texas Union Underground is a less well-known spot right on campus for bowling, billiards, and air hockey. But it isn’t your typical bowling alley, the whole place is lit by black lights and literally everything glows in the dark — which is awesome!
The Escape Game
405 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701
If you’ve got a dreary afternoon to kill, get a group of friends together and head to The Escape Game! They’ve got five different escape rooms of varying difficulty, and each one takes a full hour to complete. It’s loads of fun and by the time you’re done, you’ll be out of that rainy day funk.
Wonderspace
