The Phoenix Cinco de Mayo Vaccination

We know. We wished the Phoenix Cinco de Mayo festival would be back fully this year, but the concern of covid-19 remains in the air. But don’t worry. We’re doing something different this year. Were you having difficulty getting an appointment? This year, the Cinco de Mayo festival will be a special, one-day vaccination and testing station while continuing with some of its traditional programs.

A Historic Celebration

The Phoenix celebration is the largest Chico de Mayo celebration in Arizona. For the past 28 years, it has been celebrating Mexican history and culture and has become one of the most iconic historic staples in downtown Phoenix. This year’s event is held at the Phoenix Convention Center on 33 E. Washington St on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 from 11 am to 8 pm.

Giving Back to the Community

Every year, the festival gives back to the community by awarding scholarships. Up till today, the Arvizu scholarships, in partner with Grand Canyon  University, have awarded over $600,000 to high school Hispanic students looking to furthering their education with university programs.

Cinco de Mayo Vaccination!

If you are planning on getting your vaccination at this year’s event, we recommend you make an appointment by calling 888-420-0212. The vaccination station opens from 11 am to 8 pm. If you weren’t able to get an appointment, walk-ups are also acceptable as long as supplies last.

Since the vaccination age limit has been lowered to 16, many have reported more difficulties in finding an appointment. Then, why not take the festival as the perfect opportunity to get your shot? Plus, you get a free Chico Vaccine mask too!

What to Look Forward To

The festival is all about culture and fun. Streets will be filled with the top Mexican food trucks and street food vendors in Phoenix, accompanied by a brilliant performer and artist lineup including flash dancers from local baile folklórico groups.

While the 2021 event only has the scholarship announcement, the organizing committee has promised us a full-scale festival in 2022. Actually, you can grab your tickets on their website right now. The performer, artist, and food vendor lineups will be announced throughout the year. And if you’re a small business, you can also apply to be an exhibitor or vendor to showcase your specialties.
