First Friday at the Phoenix Art Museum is Going Virtual Today

Hosted by the Phoenix Art Museum and ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, First Friday at the Phoenix Art Museum is going virtual on May 1, 2020, from 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM.

Instead of canceling First Friday altogether due to COVID-19, the Phoenix Art Museum is bringing it virtually to their fans! You can join them streaming live on the #PhxArtYouTube channel via Zoom as they bring you a virtual presentation of May First Friday at Phoenix Art Museum. Tune in live at 7:30 PM here.

What will the first-ever Virtual First Friday include?

Signals & Signs: new works from Arizona State University’s Advanced Media Design and Media Design Application courses. Fresh out of the creativity of ASU’s campus art students!

It will also feature ASU Artists working with media for live and time-based spaces as they present a series of new media-based performance and installation works. Among the featured series will be emergent technologies, with projects that will explore being and nothingness. You’ll also experience Hip Hop dance with a backdrop of Ryukyuan History, El Ombligo which means the scar of birth, the projection-mapped board games, and animated storytelling. Just to name a few!

Needless to say, First Friday might be going virtual, but it certainly won’t be lacking in creativity and originality. Look for featured artists to include the likes of Michael Fitzsimons, Tyler Harris, Olivia Hernandez, Delia Ibanez, Ri Lindegren, Glenna Negron, David Novoa, and Treyvon Thompson. Make sure to tag @phxart and #PhxArt on social media!
