The Black community in the Valley is robust, diverse, and filled with many people who believe in perpetuating that spirit of business with their own ideas. As we celebrate Black History Month, we decided to show you some of our most loved Black-owned businesses in the Valley!

A local designer with three different fashion houses of custom-fitted clothing, Being Dapper has featured at Phoenix Fashion Week and can fit you from anywhere to give you the styles you need to be, well, Dapper.
Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles

Scratch-made soul food with locations all over the valley, Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles is a staple of American fare from fried or smothered chicken, waffles and syrup, biscuits and gravy, and even the “Kiss My Grits” breakfast special. It’s probably best if you order one of everything.

A Black-owned bookstore with a strong activist role in the local community, Grassrootz offers books for purchase and its Community Library membership to borrow and use unlimited book swaps for only five dollars a month!
Trapp Haus

Boasting the creative cuisine skills of pitmaster Phil Johnson, a.k.a. “Phil the Grill,” this smokehouse offers a unique twist on several classics in the barbecue milieu. You can also find some of Phil’s own creations like the meat-topped “Phil-Em-Up” Fries.
Archwood Exchange

In 2016, Archwood Exchange was born to fuel the desire to create a place and system for a “Buy Black Marketplace” in Phoenix. This event happens on the first-Saturday every month. It features artisans and services from Black-owned businesses all over the Valley to encourage and develop the community at large!

For all you true foodies out there, Chic Chef Co. is a Black-owned chef supply store. Its signature products include olive oils, unique spice blends, tea blends, and even branded food like their Jamaican Jerk popcorn!
