The weather may still be on the chillier side, but it’s about time to reign in the beginning of spring with Lunar New Year. As the most important holiday on the Chinese calendar, Lunar New Year marks the beginning of a new year in Chinese culture, as well as the beginning of the spring season. That said, Phoenix is a buzz with celebrations to usher in the Year of the Rabbit on January 22; and luckily, we have them all listed below for you to choose from for the week ahead.

Lunar New Year Celebration at Hackett House (Fri, Jan. 20)

Tempe’s vivacious Hackett House has begun making its own traditions surrounding Lunar New Year, with its upcoming second annual cultural dinner for Tempe’s sister cities surrounding the holiday. Dinner guests will find delicious Chinese cuisine served family style, along with a bubbly atmosphere to enjoy with your loved ones. Dinner will begin at 6 P.M. with tickets to this can’t-miss event starting at $75 per person.

Phoenix Chinese Cultural and Cuisine Festival in Steele Indian School Park (Sat, Jan. 21-Sun, Jan 22)
Who doesn’t love a good, immersive Phoenix cultural fest, am I right? Every year, this vibrant festival attracts hundreds of visitors to Steele Indian School Park for food, games, and performances. And the best part? If you’re busy on Saturday, you’re always free to pop by on Sunday – or even better; both days – for the fun.

The Lunar New Year Festival at the District Stage (Sat, Jan. 21)

We don’t know about you, but we love a good performance! To celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, pop on over to the District Stage in Desert Ridge Marketplace for dancing, music, and most of all, an insane amount of fun. Lunar New Year Celebration at the Talking Stick Resort (Sat, Jan. 21 – Sun, Jan. 22)

Now, this one might just be our personal favorite so far! In this glamorous two-day event at one of the Phoenix area’s most popular resorts, watch as colorful lions make their way across the Talking Stick casino floor to reign in the New Year. And who knows – you might just be one of the lucky guests to win a $500 dollar prize in the Resort’s annual Red Envelope Giveaway. And better yet – there are two chances to watch the performance and win, at 1 and 3 P.M.

Lunar New Year Celebration at the Chandler Public Library (Sat, Jan. 28)
If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with the little ones as a way to celebrate, The Chandler Public Library is celebrating the Chinese New Year with a fun array of crafts, food and games for all ages between 2 and 4 P.M. We can’t wait to see you there!
