About Tovrea Castle
This castle in the desert is a historically designated structure listed as one of Phoenix “Points of Pride.” Opening in 1928, it has gone from resort centerpiece, to private residence, to now part of the Phoenix parks system. In addition, three very distinct families have roots in this castle, giving it quite the history. Tours of this historic landmark last 90 minutes, and can be booked online for $20. You are walked around the 44 outdoor acres by a knowledgeable docent and then get time to explore the castle. However, they sell out incredibly fast! In 2021, there is a new lottery style system for tickets given the popularity.
