About South Mountain Preserve
South Mountain is visible from almost anywhere in the Phoenix metro area. Encompassing more than 16,000 acres, it is one of the largest parks in the nation that is municipally maintained. There are three mountain ranges in the preserve and more than 50 miles for activities including cycling, running, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and more. An especially beautiful view is at Dobbins Lookout which is the highest point in the park. Here you will get to see an exquisite view of the city that is unlike any other. Hiking both at sunset and sunrise will give you the best of both worlds.
