Located on 7th Avenue between Camelback Road and Bethany Home Road sits the “Home of the Chimichanga.” La Piñata was the first restaurant to top the classic deep-fried burrito with guacamole, sour cream, onions, cheese, and tomatoes. Five decades later, La Piñata is still serving up their award-winning Sonoran-style Mexican food and bringing Phoenix an “Old Mexico” vibe. The “Mary Lou” is a Phoenix favorite with red or green chile and meat folded inside a cheese crisp and sour cream on the side.
