Bonnie Tyler Went into Cardiac Arrest After She Had Emergency Bowel Surgery: Report
The singer from Wales was in great pain after she got to Portugal, where she has a house, following unsuccessful tests in London.
News of the singer’s health battle was first announced on Wednesday after reports revealed that she had emergency surgery for a perforated intestine last week.
Bonnie had been inactive at home for two days before her husband, Robert Sullivan, who was very worried, took her to the private hospital where she was first seen before being brought to Faro.
Now, local Portuguese media report that Bonnie suffered a cardiac arrest while the doctors were trying to bring her out of an induced coma.
Cardiac arrest is when a person’s heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops to pump blood, it also stops to beat, and as a result, it interrupts the flow of oxygen which is supplied to the body and brain.

The artist is going to be kept in a medically induced coma in the intensive care unit of Faro Hospital until the doctors can control the “serious infection” caused by a perforated intestine she is suffering from, according to Correio da Manha.
Her close friend Liberto Mealha said late at night that doctors remain “confident” in her eventual recovery despite the fact that her condition is still developing.

Disclosing her health issues Mr Mealha said: “During the concert in London she felt unwell and she decided to see a doctor for some tests. However, the tests didn’t show anything there. “After that, she also went to Algarve but that is where she started to have very bad stomach pain.”
“The private hospital she first went to, the same day, decided to get her to the Faro hospital urgently as her appendix was already burst and she was in need of an emergency operation.”
Bonnie is most recognized for her number one single “Total Eclipse of the Heart, ” which gained worldwide fame in 1983.
She had four more top ten hits, two of them being “It’s a Heartache” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”
