Dianna Russini Resigns to Protect Career Reputation Amid NFL Review

Dianna Russini agreed to leave The Athletic before her contract expired as she didn’t want a “media frenzy” to define her career legacy. In a heartfelt letter, she stated that she resigned instead of going through a public questioning which was based on speculation and leaks, and which she believed had already deeply affected her. Russini argued that her resignation was not a confession of guilt but rather a gesture to stop the “oxygen” being given to the false story.
Even though Russini has left her job, Mike Vrabel’s status as the head coach is still safe. The NFL made it public on April 18 that it will not be assessing his conduct under the league’s personal conduct policy. League representative Brian McCarthy stated that coaches are required to maintain the integrity of the league, but the league did not find any reason to take additional action concerning the matter.
