Meri Brown isn’t Bought Kody Brown’s On-Camera Apology
Maybe it’s not too late for Kody Brown to apologize to his first wife, Meri Brown, only she’s not sure he means it.
In the episode of Sister Wives that aired on Dec. 28, Kody was still on his on-screen “atonement tour,” having formally apologized to exes Janelle and Christine Brown in the previous episodes.
“I’m very guarded because I don’t know what this is all about or why,” Meri said, adding that “our last couple of interactions haven’t been great.”
Kody—only married to fourth wife Robyn Brown after he divorced all the other three—said he wanted Meri to “move on,” and even pointed to “the way your friends talk about me” as proof that she hasn’t done so fully.
Nevertheless, Meri was not feeling particularly moved and she clearly pointed out in her confessional that she didn’t see or hear a sincere apology from her ex.

Meri Brown Calls Out Kody for Shutting Her Down
Apparently, when Meri suggested to Kody that he could “stop right there,” he was immediately quick to deny that he was in any way planning to argue, “I’m just here to apologize anyway.”
That was basically the end of it. He made it quite clear that he did not want to get into something more complicated.
In her confessional, a frustrated Meri, visibly, pointed out that this was just one part of the pattern that had been going on for years. She said, “This is something Kody has always done from the very first time I met him,” “he just tries to talk over me or stop me from saying something.”
Meri Brown Revealed Kody’s “Apology” Didn’t Sound Genuine to Her
Kody Brown took a deep dive into his mistakes with Meri—he apologized from claiming he never loved her to even admitting he didn’t find her “hella hilarious.”
However, the more he tried to convince her, the less Meri believed him.
“Hey, you got to stop with the apologize word,” she told the father of 18. “The more you use it, the more it feels like you are saying it without meaning it.”
She went on to explain to him: “It simply shows that it doesn’t really feel like this is coming from the heart.”

Meri Brown Says Kody’s Apology “Is for Him,” Not Her
More than three years after they publicly announced their separation, Meri Brown despite her initial skepticism allowed Kody Brown to speak his mind.
“I want to give him the space to do what he intended to do,” she said in a confessional. “I’m still trying to figure out how genuine it is. I’m not convinced yet, but I’m open to seeing how it goes.”
In a perfect world, Meri told Kody, “I would love to have a conversation instead of you just sitting there apologizing to me.”
However, when it was obvious that Kody didn’t want any genuine back-and-forth, she thought the scene differently. ‘The more this conversation goes on and the fact that he’s saying, ‘No, we can’t have a conversation,’ it’s for him,” she said to the cameras. “It’s definitely just all about him, which is perfectly OK. If he needs this, he can have it.”
Kody Shuts Down Talk About Kids, Leaving Meri “Less Than Impressed”
Kody Brown signaled that he wanted their interaction to be on his terms — including a ‘no kids’ rule in the discussion.
Meri put it to him this way: “I hope you are really able to say that you don’t regret it now, in fact, because you have so many children, Kody.”
He totally stopped her: “Don’t bring up the kids. That’s completely out of bounds.”
Kody stated that the subject was taboo “because it’s a whole stream of bulls–t and I just don’t want to talk about it.”
So they were in a stalemate. Meri left their chat quite unmoved by what she thought was his non-apology and little, if any, overall effort.

Meri Brown Says Kody Hasn’t Improved After Their Early Years
After her heated interview with Kody Brown, Meri Brown came out openly admitting that she doesn’t even recognize the man she’s married to anymore – and she doesn’t like the path he’s heading down.
“I get that people change,” she told. “It is totally impossible for me or him to be anyone we were 30 years ago, but I would have expected him to be better, to get better.”
In fact, Meri went on to mention, “I just haven’t witnessed him being better or behaving in a more decent way at least in some of the issues that he has been the divorces, the property, his relationship with his children. I have not seen there any improvement. And that breaks my heart.”
This, however, is just one of numerous frank admissions that Meri along with her ex-sisters-in-law have been revealing this season.
