Katie Thurston, who was the lead on The Bachelorette, has made great progress in her health journey after having a double mastectomy for stage four breast cancer on April 29. Her husband, comedian Jeff Arcuri, gave fans updates about the operation and called his wife a “beautiful badass.”

On Instagram Story dated April 29, Jeff, who became husband to Katie in March 2025, comforted the fans by saying that she was in “amazing hands” and had a great mood. He posted a couple of videos showing Katie’s pre-op routine to the fans while waiting for the surgery to be over and proving that humor was still making the 35-year-old strong.

With the camera on Katie who was making jokes about her hospital gown fit, she told Jeff playfully, “These are my new boobs actually. It’s for you, baby.”

Katie Thurston Updates Fans After Double Mastectomy

Katie Thurston, a former Bachelorette, has had her double mastectomy procedure amid her fight with stage 4 breast cancer. Her husband Jeff Arcuri confirmed that the surgery went well.

“Katie is out of surgery and the doctors said that everything went well, ” the actor said in an update shortly after the operation.

Katie then comforted her fans herself, sharing a video of a hospital room while posting the video. Hospital food and watching Monsters, Inc. are her tiny pleasures. She also gave a brief glimpse into her recovery and highly praised her husband for his support. “Jeff is taking care of me so well, ” she said by showing him. And he was there at the hospital all night by her side, she said. Jeff simply replied, “That’s all I need.”

Her operation took place a little over a month after Katie announced her decision to have a double mastectomy and that she would be leaving her social media behind for the healing process.
