How to Recreate That Coffee Shop Experience At Home

Even though 2022 seems to be the year when things slowly begin to go back to normal and you aren’t cooped up in your home for weeks, people still are spending more time at home than usual, especially because most companies have opted for hybrid and fully remote work models.

While staying at home can be quite relaxing and fun for the most part, it can also become a tad monotonous when you’ve done it for more than a couple of weeks. However, there are some ways to beat the blues and make your home a little more comfy and fun—and no, we don’t mean you need to go all out and renovate your home!

All you really have to do is jazz things up a little. For instance, a number of people have taken on the project of recreating reading rooms and coffee shops at their own home, so they can experience the things they enjoy and love so much anytime they want—for free! Without further ado, here are some tricks which will help you effortlessly convert a small portion of your home into a coffee shop – let’s get started!

1. Choose a Spot

First things first – you need to choose a good spot. And no, you’re not going to have to clear up an entire room to make place for your café (unless you want to!). All you really need is a quiet corner which is going to be undisturbed for the most part, some decent lighting, and enough space to have some furniture around.

Or, if you have a counter (or a makeshift one) in the corner of your living room, then that’s really all you’re going to need! Once you’ve chosen a spot, it’s time to get into the details.

2. Set the Ambience

Most of the people who visit cafés don’t go there just for getting themselves a cup of coffee—it’s also for having the “experience” of having a cup of coffee in a neat little café. The pretty decor, the warm lights, the soft music, the neat and orderly arrangements.

Most people are attracted to such an ambience for two main reasons: One, it gives them a place to relax and catch-up with a close friend – a way to forget about the cares of the outside world and just exist in the moment in a pretty looking coffee shop.

Another reason is that it gives them a quiet place to think, without feeling alone or bored. Which is why you’d often see many people working on their laptops or reading books there. Something about having a small space while having others around can make people feel both relaxed and motivated to focus on their work, without letting their thoughts stray too much.

However, don’t fret too much if you don’t have a lot of decor or paintings that you can hang up in your coffee shop corner at home. There are numerous stores where you can buy second-hand decor at reasonable prices, and it isn’t too hard to make your own decor if you happen to be artistic!

Another trick is to tell your friends and family about your project, and drop heavy hints about coffee-related gifts, especially if your birthday’s coming up! If you want inspiration about what kind of decor you should buy for your coffee corner, you can refer to sites that talk about the best gifts for coffee lovers and even forward these to your loved ones who want to contribute to building your home café!

3. Get Good Coffee

The final step is to invest in a variety of coffee—because you’re going to want to have a few different drinks around whenever you’re relaxing (or working) in your café. Be sure to use your best cups and mugs to make your home coffee shop a complete and fulfilling experience.
