Last summer will be remembered as a change for Prince George that he won’t forget. A mere week before his first departure for Windsor and his studies at Eton College boarding school, the 13-year-old Prince had what we can call a rare family outing with William, Kate and Charlotte and Louis at a Netball match.
That family moment was quite a big deal; not only were all five people in the family of Wales present, but it was also the timing. Before George goes off for his new life, the family is spending their moments together as a family so that they can make lasting memories in the time they have left.
Together with their youngest son Harry William Philip Louis, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Netball Semi-finals at the OVO Hydro, where they watched Jamaica vs Australia, before heading to the sports.
Though their presence in the Commonwealth Games event was anticipated, the reason they came out with George, Charlotte and Louis made it one of the most anticipated family events of the year.
Why the Commonwealth Games Outing Was So Meaningful
It’s not unusual to spot The Prince and Princess of Wales at public events where their children are involved, particularly when it comes to sporting events.
So, the meeting of George, William, Kate, Charlotte and Louis during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was just a way to show the world how tight-knit their family is and how each member supports another.
During the Netball game, George, Charlotte, and Louis seemed to be fully engrossed in the action with their chatter.
The boys shared their opinions with each other while Charlotte seemed to be the one making the moves and gestures with respect to their game and also getting advice from their mom from time to time. Besides this, Louis, as usual, charmed everyone with his face and his cheeky smile.
Kate and Charlotte got the chance to be their little heroines once after talking to members of the Scotland netball team who were just sitting in the audience watching the match.
The Royal Family’s Commonwealth Games Visit
Picking Up the Royal Tour at Commonwealth Games. The family was present at the Commonwealth Games event as part of the Queen’s official Royal Tour, which will also involve other members of the royal family.
About a week prior, William, Catherine, and the kids were able to meet Welsh team members on the court before the big event of the Opening Ceremony.
Earlier on the same day, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and patron of Commonwealth Sport, and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, had visited the athletes.
The pair, who were joined by the Duke of Edinburgh’s godson, Prince Harry, had been attending various events across the Commonwealth Games.
On Thursday, July 30, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh watched the hurdles, triple jump and decathlon events take place, having already attended the football matches between England v Wales, Scotland v Ireland, and Scotland v Australia.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla also played their part in the celebrations, hosting the opening ceremony on July 23, which marked the start of the Commonwealth Games every four years.
Prince George Prepares for Life at Eton College
George’s New Adventure is Set to Begin Soon. The family visit to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was a special one for George and Louis, who were in attendance for the first time. Meanwhile, Charlotte had also joined her parents at one of the sporting events when the 2022 games took place in Australia.
However, the next time George makes a public appearance, it is likely that he will be in a very different setting. Following his recent military pageant, Trooping the Colour, in mid-June, Kensington Palace announced that George will be attending Eton College from this school year.
The prestigious boarding school has a rich history of educating Britain’s best and brightest, including Charles III, William, and Prime Ministers, as well as notable athletes and business leaders. Charlotte and Louis, meanwhile, are set to continue their education at Lambrook School.
While the trip to Glasgow was notable, the timing of the family visit to the Commonwealth Games was of particular significance. With George set to start school at Eton College, it was one of his last appearances with his family before he leaves home for the first time.
For royal fans, it was a poignant end to a family period, and the beginning of a new era for Prince George.
