Trinity Rodman Sends Love and Support to Ben Shelton After US Open Injury
The soccer star cheered on her boyfriend following his early exit from the tournament.
Trinity Rodman is fully supporting her boyfriend Ben Shelton after a difficult time on the court.
Just a short time after he was not able to continue his match with Mannarino in the third round of the US Open 2025, Shelton shared a message from the heart. A left shoulder injury caused to the young 22-year-old tennis player resulted in the abandonment of the competition. Rodman who made her relationship with Shelton known earlier this year, was definitely there for him as she showed up with an encouraging Instagram Stories post dated August 30.”You are strength and dedication,” she addressed him with these words. “I love you and you’ll come back even stronger.”
Her message is given as Shelton remains a patient to the injury while Rodman shows that she is supporting him not only on the court but also off the court.
Unexpected Exit of Shelton: “I’m Not the Type of Person Who Would Retire If I Still Had the Ability to Go On”
The incident which prompted Shelton to quit the US Open, specifically his third-round encounter, was the 22-year-old who seemed to have overexerted himself and began to clutch his left side. At the same time, Shelton was making the tough choice to end the game.
“I never did a retirement before,” Shelton said at a press conference on August 29, as reported by CNN. “I’m Not the Type of Person Who Would Retire If I Still Had the Ability to Go On”
Mannerino, who was passing through to the next round after Shelton’s withdrawal, even joked about the odd situation. Not being on the court when he got the official notice of his victory, the French player said it was his “first time winning a match from the toilets”.
Rodman: From Playful Questions to Heartfelt Support
Recalling Shelton’s third-round departure, Mannarino confessed that he had the impression Shelton was going to win the match before the injury changed the way of the match.
“He was leading when the pain was only just starting,” Mannarino recounted at the time. “To be honest, he probably would have won that match. It’s a pity for him and fortunate for me, but I don’t quite know. I’m glad to progress. I wish him all the best, of course.”
As Trinity Rodman is currently the support force behind her boyfriend’s recovery, her backing has always been a mixture of both an uplift and a slight jest. Just a few days before, on August 24, she creatively mocked Shelton at a press conference following his victory against Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta.
“So,” she grinned, “how did not being able to serve faster than 135 today make you feel?”
Unexpectedly, Shelton, caught off guard, snickered, and before he went off screen joking, “Why did you give her a question?”
A Relationship Built on Playfulness and Support
Rodman kept the lighthearted teasing going in the press room. “I just know you like to serve big, and it wasn’t breaking 140 today,” she teased.
Shelton, smiling through the exchange, leaned into the joke. “It was cold outside today, so I think that was, you know, the main reason,” the 22‑year‑old explained. “I was focused on hitting spots. I didn’t hit those spots, so maybe I should just serve bigger. Something that I’ll definitely work on next time.”
With a laugh, he added, “Let anyone in the room at this point, huh?”
But behind the joking tone, the pair’s bond is clear. Shelton publicly expressed just how much Rodman’s presence means to him earlier in the tournament.
“My girlfriend took the red eye from California last night to be here,” he said after his first‑round win over Ignacio Buse on August 25. “So, we’re here for the long haul, just looking forward to it.”
