Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci are no longer together.
On Friday, Sept. 19, both the 67-year-old director and 60-year-old Italian actress announced in a joint statement that they are no longer together.
“It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” said the two ex-lovers to AFP.
PEOPLE contacted the representatives of Burton and Bellucci but there was no response.

From Cannes to Romance

In 2006 at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Bellucci and Burton met each other for the first time but only for a very short time. Both were involved in relationships that had been going on for a while, and they went minimal.
Relationships of both were in a long term, and the duo had a very brief interaction only.
In 2022, the two met once more when Bellucci presented Burton a Lumière Award at the Lumière Festival. They were out and about as a couple for the first time, walking hand-in-hand in Madrid, Spain and the onlookers began to assume that they might be dating. They were photographed at the Rome Film Festival together and confirmed their relationship in October 2023.

Public Appearances and Praise

At the premiere of her film Maria Callas: Lettere e Memorie, Burton supported Bellucci publicly. The coverage of the event, as reported by The Independent, portrayed the actor as being “so in love and happy” with his partner.
In an interview with Elle France in June 2023, Bellucci responded positively to the rumors of their relationship shortly after it was announced that Burton had chosen her for the sequel of his 1988 film, Beetlejuice.
“If I had to say … I would say that first of all I am happy to have met the man,” she confessed then. “It’s one of those encounters that happen very little throughout life … I understand the man, I love him, and now I’m going to meet the director — another change of scenery.”
